Only :43 seconds into the sudden-death overtime, Kenai’s Reagan Graves knocked-home the game-winner for the Kenai Kardinals completing a Kenai rally from a 2-0, first period deficit and earning Kenai a 3-2 victory. The Kardinals improve to 4-1 in regular season high school hockey.
Kenai 3 – Homer 2 Overtime
For a second-straight game, the Kenai Kardinals and Homer Mariners battle to a 2-2 tie until the final two minutes of regulation.
On Friday, Homer scored two, first period goals for a 2-0 lead with Casey Otis and Kazen Stinoff recording goals. Kenai netted its first goal at 4:45 of the second period off the stick of Blake Bucho with a Tucker Vann assist. Tucker Vann tied the game at 2-2 for Kenai at 6:45 of the third period.
In the overtime, Kenai controlled the face-off and forced the action in the Homer end with Reagan Graves scoring the game-winner just :43 seconds into overtime. Vann recorded a second assist for Kenai. In goal for Kenai, Thomas Baker recorded 20 saves on 22 shots; Homer’s Keegan Strong recorded 37 saves on 40 shots.
