Railbelt Conference hockey on the road for the Kenai Kardinals closed-out with Kenai defeating Houston 9-1 and the Kardinals falling 4-2 to the Palmer Moose.
Kenai 9 – Houston 1
Offense finally arrived to match the stingy Kardinals defense with the Kenai Kardinals overpowering Houston 9-1 in Railbelt Conference hockey in Big Lake on Friday. The Kardinals improved to 1-0-1 in conference play.
Kenai scored twice in the first period, five times in the second period and added two, third period goals. Jordan Knutson and Nate Beiser each scored two goals; Caden Warren, Jacob Begich, Miles Marston, Gavin Langham and Nick Wehrstein each added single goals. Tommy Baker recorded 29 saves for Kenai.
Kenai 2 – Palmer 4
The Kardinals suffered their first conference loss on Saturday 4-2 to the Palmer Moose.
Kenai’s Miles Marston opened the scoring for a 1-0 lead. Palmer tied the contest in the second period; Kenai re-took the lead with three minutes remaining in period two with goal by Calden Warren. Palmer closed-out the contest with three, unanswered goals. Jackson Cross recorded 37 saves for Kenai.
Kenai vs SoHi
Kenai hosts SoHi in the annual pre-Chrstmas showdown with a Railbelt Conference contest set for Friday, December 20 at the Kenai Multi-Purpose Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The game broadcast will be provided on KKIS 96.5 FM and streamed live at www.radiokenai.com.
