Senior Night at Soldotna High School for the SoHi volleyball team included recognition for the SoHi senior players and the Stars also recognizing the Kardinal senior girls. A well-received pre-game ceremony turned into a competitive battle of familiar rivals.
Kenai delivered a three-game sweep of the Soldotna Stars in non-divisional volleyball downing the Stars 25-14, 26-24 and 25-17.
Kenai 3 – SoHi 0
In game one, Kenai and SoHi played evenly through the first 10 points; then Kenai pulled-away and recorded the final four points on the serving of Bethany Morris for the 25-14 win.
Game two proved the best of the three games of the night. SoHi lead early and Kenai took the lead 17-16 and extended the lead to 20-16. SoHi’s Taylor Edwards won eight-straight service points to give the Stars a 24-20 advantage, just a point from the game two victory. The Kardinals answered and tied the game at 24-24; then took game two 26-24. Kenai recorded six, straight points for the games two win.
Game three again began evenly, then Kenai pulled ahead and cruised to a 25-17 victory.
The Kenai Kardinals are scheduled to play in the Seward Tri-Meet on Saturday, September 26th. SoHi returns to the court on Saturday, October 3rd at the Nikiski Shayna Pritchard Tournament.
