Kardinals Fall To Eagle River In Non-Divisional Football Pairing

The Kardinals final home contest of the regular season was filled with Senior Day celebration but little Kenai football offense, as the Kardinals dropped a 48-6 game to Division II Eagle River.

 

Eagle River, 5-1 in the regular season, controlled play throughout against the 1-4 Division III Kardinals.

 

Game Recap;  Eagle River 48 – Kenai 6

Eagle River scored two, first quarter rushing touchdowns and added two, second quarter touchdowns, one passing and one running, for a 28-0 halftime Wolves lead.

Eagle River added a third quarter rushing score and two fourth quarter touchdowns on the ground for a 48-0 advantage.

The Kardinals scored on the final play of the game on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Roc Riggle to David Martin (deflected by Owen Wicker).

Final Score: Wolves 48 – Kardinals 6

 

Kenai travels to Kodiak for their final regular season game on Friday, October 1st.  Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m. on the Kodiak field.

Kenai owns the third seed from the Mid-Alaska Conference into the Division III football playoffs.
