The Kenai Kardinal hockey team handed the Houston Hawks a second-straight Railbelt Conference loss with Kenai downing Houston 6-4 on Saturday on the Kenai Ice.
SoHi and Palmer finished overtime tied 1-1 on Saturday and Homer finished the week with 4-3 OT victory over Houston on Friday.
Kenai 6 -Houston 4
Kenai outscored Houston 3-2 in the third period, pushing the Kards past Houston 6-4 in Railbelt Conference hockey. The Kardinals and Hawks traded first-period goals; Kenai’s Avery Martin opened the scoring. In the second period, Kenai outscored Houston 2-1 with a pair of goals by Logan Mese. Leading 3-2 into the third, Kenai scored three goals with Jacob Begich, Koda Norbeck and Landen Cialek.
Kenai improves to 8-2-1 in Railbelt play; Houston drops to 5-2 in conference play.
SoHi 1 – Palmer 1
The Stars and Moose skated to a 1-1 tie at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex on Saturday. Palmer’s Mason O’Rourke opened the scoring with a Palmer goal. Dylan Dahlgren scored a power-play goal in the second period for the Stars. The third period and overtime finished scoreless. SoHi goalie Ayden See recorded 26 saves; Palmer’s Joshua Horacek recorded 31 saves.
SoHi moves to 5-3 in the Railbelt and Palmer owns a 2-3 conference record.
