Final round action at the Dimond Lady Lynx Prep Shootout featured wins for both Kenai and Soldotna girls basketball teams as both teams close-out the four-day tournament with 2-2 records.
The Anchorage Christian School Lions won the Gold Bracket and finished tournament play at 4-0 with a 71-59 over Dimond.
Colony wins the Maroon Bracket with a 41-33 victory over Lathrop.
SoHi Girls 60 – West Anchorage 52
The SoHi girls jumped to an 8-0 lead just two minutes into the game and lead 31-22 at the half. West closed in the early fourth quarter before SoHi extended to an eight-point victory 60-52.
Aliann Schmidt lead the Stars with 21 points and Itu Tuisaula added 14 points.
The Stars finish tournament play with a 2-2 record with victories over Ketchikan and West; loses to Dimond and West Valley.
Kenai Girls 34 – South 30
Lead by a 12-point effort by Haley Maw, including 10 points in the fourth quarter, the Kenai girls rallied to defeat South Anchorage; outscoring the Wolverines 16-6 in the fourth quarter.
Kenai finishes tournament play at 2-2 with victories over Ketchikan and South; losses to Dimond and Lathrop.
Nikiski Basketball In Fairbanks
The Nikiski Bulldogs traveled to Fairbanks for three days of basketball against Monroe and Hutchison.
The Monroe boys sweep Nikiski with a 62-22 win Thursday and a 60-40 win on Friday. The Nikiski girls recorded two narrow victories over the Rams 46-42 and 44-42.
On Saturday, the Bulldog girls downed Hutchison 41-34 and the Hutchison boys defeated the Bulldogs 71-45.
