Kardinals Surge Past Delta At State Hockey

The 2023 ASAA First National Cup Division II Hockey State Championships continued play on Friday afternoon with the Kenai Kardinals defeating Delta 7-3, advancing Kenai to the 4th-Place game on Saturday at the Patty Center at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks in Fairbanks.

 

Kenai 7 – Delta 3

Logan Mese recorded a three-goal, hat trick in the Kardinals’ late-surge victory over Delta 7-3.

Kenai and Delta were tied after two periods at 3-3; Mese with two goals and an assist for Kenai on a Landon Cialek goal.

In the third period, Kenai pulled-away from the Huskies with goals by Ky Calvert, Mese, William Howard and Calvert.

Kenai will play North Pole on Saturday at noon in the 4th Place game.  North Pole defeated Monroe 6-2 in Friday’s consolation game.
