The Kenai Kardinals girls and boys basketball teams, the newest members to the Southcentral Conference for high school basketball, delivered a stern message to the conference and the Homer Mariners on Friday night with a sweep of the Mariners to open the conference basketball schedule.
Kenai Girls 51 – Homer 8
The Kardinal girls scored in double figures in each quarter and held the Mariner girls under double figures for the game; as the Kenai girls dominated Homer 51-8 to open conference play.
Brooke Satathite lead the Kardinals with nine points; Kailee Hamilton and Hayley Maw each added eight points.

Kenai Boys 48 – Homer 47
The Kardinal boys rallied from an eight-point, fourth quarter deficit to defeat Homer 48-47 in SCC action on Friday.
Kenai trailed 40-32 entering the fourth quarter and outscored Homer 16-7 down the stretch.
Andrew Bezdecny and Adam Trujillo lead the Kardinals with 18 points apiece.
