Kardinals Take Two Conference Wins At Nikiski

The final week of the regular season for high school basketball in the 3A and 4A classifications opened on Tuesday with the Kenai Kardinals recording a pair of victories in Peninsula Conference play at Nikiski.

 

Kenai Girls 36 – Nikiski 18

Emma Beck led the Kenai girls to a Peninsula Conference victory with a 25-point effort in a 36-18 Kenai win.  The Kardinals held Nikiski to two, second half field goals after building a 17-12 halftime lead. Kenai improves to 3-3 in the Peninsula Conference; Nikiski falls to 1-7.

 

Kenai Boys 62 – Nikiski 38

Behind a 22-point effort by Wade James and 17 points for Daniel McRorie, the Kenai boys posted their fifth conference win in a 62-38 victory over Nikiski.  Kenai improves to 5-1 in the Peninsula Conference; Nikiski falls to 1-7.  The Kards and Bulldogs were tied at 8-8 after one quarter; Kenai pulled away with a 20-point, second quarter and a 23-point, third quarter.
