Kardinals Volleyball Sweeps Weekend; Stars Fall to Homer

The Kenai Kardinal volleyball team recorded a pair of Southcentral Conference volleyball victories with wins over Redington and Houston.  The Homer Mariners recorded a non-conference win downing the Soldotna Stars.

 

Kenai 3 – Redington 0

The Kardinals easily handled the Huskies on Friday at KCHS 25-21, 25-6 and 25-18.  Jorgi Phillips had 11 aces and 22 assists and Emma Beck lead Kenai with 11 kills.

Kenai 3 – Houston 0

Kenai recorded a three-set sweep of the Houston Hawks on Saturday at KCHS, downing the Hawks 25-1, 25-12 and 25-14.  In game one, Jorgi Phillips recorded 21 points on 22 straight serves including seven aces, as Kenai won 25-1.  Emma Beck had 11 kills, Cali Holmes had five kills and Erin Koziczkowski had five kills.

Homer 3 – SoHi 2

The Mariners and Stars traded blows throughout a five-set match with the Mariners closing-out game five 15-13 for the non-divisional win.  Homer took game one 25-21, SoHi answered n game two 25-8, Hoer takes game three 25-13 and the Stars tied the match in game four 25-15.  For the Stars, Emma Brantley had 24 assists, Chloe Armstrong had 10 kills, Katelyn Morrison had nine kills.  The Mariners Gracie Gummer recorded 20 kills in the win.
