Soldotna 10, Bartlett 2
The Soldotna Stars routed the Bartlett Golden Bears on Friday, snapping a three-game losing streak. Daniel Heath led the team, scoring five goals and the Stars improved to 4-4-2 on the season.
SoHi senior Heath opened the game with a hat trick in the first period, scoring all three Stars goals before the first intermission.
The goal-scoring opened up to the rest of the team in the second period, with five different Stars finding the net. Draiden Mullican scored on a power play 40 seconds into the period. Riley Cronin, Noah Crabtree, Peyton Williams, and Chase Willis all added goals as well. Willis’s goal was his first of the season.
Heath scored twice more in the third period, both shorthanded goals.
Noah Crabtree had three assists in the game to go along with his second-period goal.
Saturday, November 22
Soldotna 10, Tri Valley 0
The Stars picked up right where they left off on Friday when they scored 10 goals against Bartlett, adding another 10 goals in a shutout win over the Tri Valley Viking Warriors. Senior Daniel Heath and Freshman Noah Crabtree led Soldotna, each notching hat tricks (Heath’s second in as many nights). Heath also assisted on three goals; Crabtree assisted on two.
Junior Chase Willis scored twice in the first period.
Freshman goalie Fynly Holkko entered the game in the second period, taking over for SoHi mainstay Brycen Clyde. Holkko had a perfect five saves on five Tri Valley shots over the final two periods.
Kenai 8, Bartlett 3
The Kenai Kardinals locked up the End of the Road Tournament title with a runaway victory over another Divison I opponent in the Bartlett Golden Bears on Saturday. Senior Forward Avery Martin led the Kards with four goals and an assist.
Martin scored twice in the first period, once shorthanded, and Will Howard added another goal. Logan Mese assisted on all three. Kenai led 3-1 at the first break.
In the second period, Mese, Martin, and Howard all scored while keeping Bartlett out of the Kenai net and led 6-1 heading into the third period.
In the final frame, Martin picked up his fourth goal of the night. Buzz Vann also scored on a power play, his fourth goal of the season.
Kenai goalie Evyn Witt had 18 saves on 21 Bartlett shots on goal.
