The Kenai Kardinal basketball teams opened a four-day swing against Eastern Conference teams in Sitka, with Kenai facing Mt. Edgecumbe on Wednesday in 3A basketball.
Mt. Edgecumbe Girls 56 – Kenai Girls 48
Kenai’s Emma Beck scored 36 points in a 56-48 loss to the Braves at Mt. Edgecumbe. The Kardinal girls trailed by 15 points at the half and closed to within four points in the second half before the Braves pulled-away for the victory.
Mt. Edgecumbe Boys 61 – Kenai Boys 52
The Kardinal boys suffered a slow start, a strong third quarter and some poor shooting late in a 61-52 loss to the Mt. Edgecumbe Braves. Jakob Kvasnikoff scored 25 points for Kenai and Wade James added 11 points.
Kenai battles Mt. Edgecumbe on Thursday with games scheduled for 6 & 7:30 p.m.
