KCHS Cheerleaders Top Division II State Cheer Competition

The 2021 ASAA/First National Bank Alaska Cheer State Championship Virtual Game Day Competition announced state champions in both Division II and Division I high school cheerleading on Tuesday evening.

 

The state cheerleading competition, held virtually for 2021, included sideline cheer, time-out cheer, situational cheer judging and judging in the halftime routine category.

 

The Kenai Kardinal cheer squad earned the Division II ASAA Cheer State championship posting the highest overall score of 166, including the highest event score in sideline, time-out and situational of 100 and the highest score in the halftime routine with a 66.

The KCHS cheer squad also was awarded the ASAA All-Academic Award for the highest grade-point average for Division II with a team GPA of 3.37.

 

Juneau High School topped Division I with an overall score of 190 (different scoring criteria is used for Division I rankings).
