Soldotna resident Robert Ruffner has the support of Kenai and Soldotna City Councils along with the Borough Assembly in his bid for the open seat on Alaska’s Board of Fisheries.

Kenai Councillors unanimously approved a resolution to support Ruffner’s appointment by the governor, along with Vice Mayor Brian Gabriel’s request to travel to Juneau to demonstrate that support.

Gabriel: “The Senate Resources confirmation hearings for Mr. Ruffner we believe are next Wednesday afternoon so hopefully the City Manager and I will be able to travel down to Juneau and testify in support of Mr. Ruffner.”

During the meeting Wednesday night, many of the council members thanked Ruffner for being willing to represent the Kenai Peninsula.

Ruffner must be approved by both the house and the senate and Councillors agreed that the Senate Resource Committee will likely be the harshest committee to get through.
