The Kenai City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the sole source purchase of a Team Eagle Edge-Lite Runway Edge Light Cleaner Attachment from BSI Equipment LLC for the Kenai Municipal Airport.
This product is snow removal equipment to clear snow away from the runway and taxiway edge lights.
Kenai Airport Manager, Eland Conway explains the cleaner attachment;
“It reduces the pieces of equipment by half, it will obviously reduce the amount of fuel by half, the amount of labor by half and that’s just anecdotally I suspect that will actually decrease the cost of clearing around the edge lights even more. What it really does it allows us to leverage an existing piece of equipment that we already have at the airport and this will attached to that and allows one operator to be able to do the work of three operators and Anchorage International Airport.”
The attachment will reduce the amount of equipment and labor required to accomplish the cleaning of the runway and taxiway edge lights by approximately 50%.
The purchase is available through a resolution adopted in September for a Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program Grant.
