Kenai Aviation is expanding to other parts of Southcentral Alaska in a few months as they will be offering daily weekday service from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport to the communities of Kenai, Homer, and Valdez starting in Summer 2022. According to a press release from the company, their aircraft unites utility and safety with luxury comfort to bring custom charters throughout Alaska to new heights.
Until the launch of the scheduled service this summer, they are available for on-demand charter service throughout the state with their 5-seat Cessna 206 and the 9-seat Beechcraft Super King Air B200.
In 2018, Joel Caldwell purchased Kenai Aviation, and, within a year, the fleet grew to seven planes and counting. The company added training and long-distance charters to their offering in addition to the announcement of their service expansion.
Joel Caldwell is Kenai Aviation’s Director of Operations. In addition to having served native communities throughout rural Alaska, far-east Russia, and Western Canada, he also is a captain for Alaska Airlines on the Boeing 737. He also flew for multiple commercial operators as a line pilot, instructor, and check airman. Jacob Caldwell, his son, is the Chief Dispatcher who studied aviation management at the University of Alaska – Anchorage where he earned his Aircraft Dispatcher certification going on to manage multiple stations for Grant Aviation. He also worked for Alaska Airlines managing station operations in Alaska, Colorado, and Texas.
Kenai Aviation has served the Kenai Peninsula since 1961 and is one of the oldest locally owned businesses in Kenai.
The daily scheduled service is set up to begin this summer.
