In response to Raven Alaska leaving the Kenai Municipal Airport, Kenai Aviation will be adding 14 more flights weekly to their Kenai-Anchorage Route.

Joel Caldwell, the Director of Operations at Kenai Aviation, says that starting on November 1st, additional flights will be added to help better serve the community.

“So we are starting November 1st, we’re adding fourteen additional flights to our Kenai Anchorage route in response to Raven pulling out and wanting to make sure that we take care of our own local community. You know, we’re very grateful for what Grant’s doing and we’re working right alongside of Grant making sure that, like I said, making sure we can take care of the hometown.”

Being the only airline that is based in the Kenai area, Caldwell says that it is extremely important for the airline to make this change, and get it started as soon as possible.

“And what our plan is to do with those flights do the very best that we can of making sure we take care of our locals.”

Caldwell says that the idea of adding more flights in the future is a possibility, but the main concern at this moment, is making sure the locals have a safe and effective way to travel.

“And then by spring, we’ll be looking at making a decision as to how we’re going to take care of the increased summer demand with tourists and stuff. But you know, our primary interest is making sure that our friends and family and neighbors are are all taken care of. “
