Kenai Baseball Downs Kodiak: Stars Overpower Moose

The Kenai Kardinal baseball team closed out a two-game series with the Kodiak Bears with a 16-11 victory and the Soldotna Stars recorded a 20-9 win over the Palmer Moose.

 

Kenai 16 – Kodiak 11

The Kardinals offense erupted again on Thursday with a 16-run, 17-hit effort by the Kardinals in a 16-11 victory over the Bears.  Paul Steffenson lead the Kards with three hits, including a three-run home run.  Nick Beeson, Jacob O’Brien and Ryan Johnson each collected three hits on the night. Beeson earns the win on the mound throwing four innings and allowing nine runs, striking out five and walking nine.  The Kardinals opened a 13-6 lead with a five run, fifth inning.  Final Score: Kenai 16 – Kodiak 11.

 

Soldotna 20 – Palmer 9

The Stars dominated Palmer in Palmer on Thursday recording a 20-9 victory.  SoHi’s Hunter Thompson lead the Stars 16-hit day with four base hits and 3 RBI; Austin Asp collected four hits and 3 RBI and Logan Smith added three hits and three RBI.Matthew Dougherty notched the win with five inings on the mound, allowing six runs on six hits.  Final Score: SoHi 20 – Palmer 9
