The Kenai Kardinals and Kodiak Bears combined for 15 runs in the first four innings of their Northern Lights Conference game on Wednesday; then settled in to allow only one run in the final three innings. The Bears defeated Kenai 10-6, a second-straight victory for Kodiak over Kenai in high school baseball.
The Bears opened the game with two, first inning runs and Kenai answered with a pair of runs for a 2-2, first inning tie. Kodiak scored two in the second, two runs in the third and three runs in the fourth inning; Kenai scored a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings. Kodiak added one insurance run in the seveth for the 10-6 final score. Kenai’s six runs were scored on just one base hit; the Kards were aided by seven walks, one hit batter and six Kodiak errors through four innings.
Kenai travels to the Valley to play Houston on Friday and Colony on Saturday.
