The 2016 ASAA/First National Bank Soccer Championships continued on Friday with consolation round games for the Kenai girls and SoHi boys; and a winner’s bracket, semi-final for the Kenai boys.
Kenai boys outlast Service with penalty kick, overtime victory.

Kenai Boys 1 – Service 0 Penalty Kicks
The Kenai Kardinal boys advance to the ASAA State Soccer Championship game on Saturday with a penalty kick, overtime victory over the Service Cougars in Friday’s semi-final. Kenai’s team captain scored the game-winning penalty kick, followed by a flood of players onto the turf at Service High School.
The Kardinal boys and Service boys played to a 0-0 tied through regulation time and a 10-minute overtime.
Kenai advances to play South Anchorage on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Service.

South advances to boys championship game
Boys Consolation Round Games: Friday @ Eagle River
Juneau 4 – SoHi Boys 2
The Soldotna boys allowed four, first half goals while scoring single goals in each half as Juneau defeat SoHi 4-2. The Stars are eliminated from the state tournament with back-to-back tournament losses including Thursday’s 3-1 loss to West Anchorage.
Colony 3 – West Valley 2
Consolation game-Colony advances; Wesy Valley, eliminated
Girls Consolation Round Games: Friday @ Eagle River
Juneau 3 – Kenai Girls 1
The Kardinal girls were eliminated with a 3-1 loss to Juneau on Friday. Kenai’s Hayley Maw scored to tie the game at 1-1; however, Juneau closed with two goals for the victory.
Wasilla 2 – Colony 1
Knights eliminated by Wasilla 2-1 in consolation round.
