The Kenai Kardinal boys soccer team battled Juneau through regulation and two overtimes before scoring a game-winning, state championship winning goal to down Juneau 3-2 in the 2019 ASAA Division II Boys State Soccer Championship contested at Service High School on Saturday.
The Kardinals repeat as state soccer champions, adding to the 2018 championship.
Game Scoring Summary
Leif Lofquist scored the game-winning, sudden death goal for Kenai about five minutes into the sudden death. Lofquist earlier in the first overtime scored to give Kenai a 2-1 lead; which Juneau matched in the overtime period.
In regulation, Braedon Pitsch netted the Kardinals first goal and tied the game at 1-1.

Division II Girls Championship
Juneau 5 – SoHi 1 State Championship Game
The Soldotna girls fell in the ASAA Division II Girls State Soccer championship game to the Juneau Douglas Crimson Bears 5-1 to finish as the state runner-up.
The Stars trailed 2-0 in the first half before SoHi’s Rhys Cannava scored the Stars only goal in the first half. Three Juneau goals sealed the win for the Crimson Bears.
Thunder Mountain 3 – Kenai Girls 1 3rd/5th Place Game
The Kardinal girls lone goal came in the second half off the foot of Alyssa Bucho.
