Kenai Boys Run Win Streak To Six: SoHi Girls Continue Unbeaten

High school basketball moves through the first week of February with the unbeaten remaining unbeaten.

 

SoHi Girls 55 – Seward 26

The SoHi girls improved to 6-0 on the regular season with a 55-26 victory over Seward at SoHi on Thursday, again demonstrating an overpowering defense.  Josie Sheridan scored 19 points to lead the Stars; Rhys Cannava and Drysta Crosby-Schneider each added 10 points.

SoHi Boys 59 – Seward 32

A quick start offensively aided by strong defensive play pushed the SoHi boys past Seward on Thursday as the Stars recorded their first victory of the regular season 59-32.  The Stars lead 32-10 at halftime and outscored Seward 27-22 in the second half.  Ethan Sewell lead the Stars with 28 points; Trey Ingalls topped Seward with 12 points.

 

Kenai Girls 48 -Nikiski 43

The Nikiski girls built a five-point lead at the half on Thursday in Nikiski; however, a 19-9 third-quarter run for the Kenai girls earned the Kardinals the lead and Kenai held the lead for a 48-43 victory over the Bulldog girls.  Three Kardinals scored in double figures lead by Emma Beck with 16 points and Erin Koziczkowski with 14 points.  Lillian Carstens topped the Bulldogs scoring with a 26-point effort which included five three point baskets.

Kenai Boys 69 – Nikiski 45

The Kenai boys posted a sixth-straight win in the regular season with a 69-45 victory over Nikiski on the Bulldogs home court on Thursday.  Kenai opened with a 21-point first quarter on the strength of five, three-point baskets.  Kenai hit 11 three-pointers for the contest, including five by Mason Dunham and three for Bridger Beck, off the bench, in the first quarter.  Kenai lead 43-19 at the half and 60-34 after three quarters.  Five Kardinals scored in double-figures lead by Dunham with 18 points and Beck with 14 points.  Austin Stafford tossed-in 18 and Brady Bostic added 12 for the Bulldogs.
