The Kenai Kardinal boys soccer team shut out the Soldotna Stars 5-0 in Friday’s winner’s bracket semi-final; earning the Kardinals a state berth and a spot in the Northern Lights Conference championship game on Saturday against Colony.
The SoHi boys, SoHi girls and Kenai girls will all play on Saturday in the third place games and vie for a spot at the state soccer championships.
Friday NLC Soccer Tournament Results
Colony Girls 1 – Kenai Girls 0: The Kardinal girls fail to score against Colony in the semi-final game. Kenai will face SoHi girls for third place and for the third seed to the state soccer tournament.
Wasilla Girls 5 – SoHi Girls 1: SoHi’s Abi Tuttle staked the Stars to a 1-0 lead; however, the Warriors netted five, unanswered goals for a 5-1 Wasilla victory. The Warriors will play Colony in Saturday’s championship game; the Stars draw Kenai in the third place game.
Kenai Boys 5 – SoHi 0: The Kenai Kardinal boys held SoHi scoreless in Friday’s semi-final earning the Kards a 5-0 victory, a spot in the championship game against Colony, and a berth to the ASAA 4A state soccer championships. Zack Tuttle scored a four-goal hat trick and Chase Gillies added a Kardinal goal. Tuttle was named the MVP for the regular season for the Northern Lights Conference.
Colony Boys 2 – Homer 0: Colony advances to championship game to face Kardinal boys.
