The Kenai City Council will will vote on council travel policies at tonight’s meeting which will be held at 7pm.
Council member Terry Bookey said there has never been a solid policy in place for the council and was brought into question earlier this year.
Bookey: “Looking at our policies as a whole and that was one hole that we had so we’ll be talking about that and hopefully at the end of that meeting have an approved travel policy for the council.”
Bookey said that having a travel policy implemented will make council travel more transparent to the public and the council.
Bookey: “There’s a stipulation in there to have a report given back to council and so it also provides the ability for the council member who travelled to kind of justify the trip and tell council how it benefitted the city.
