Kenai Council Agenda Generally Routine for Tonight

The Kenai City Council agenda has a relatively routine agenda for this evening’s meeting.

Kenai Mayor Pat Porter said the first order of business will be to elect the council’s Vice Mayor.

Porter: “And that’s done with the council being the people who nominate somebody and that’s just done internally.”

Current Vice Mayor Ryan Marquis has been elected for the  last three years but said this year if he is nominated he will decline.

A couple of items up for public comment include…

Porter: “We also have an ordinance accepting a grant from the state of Alaska for a library employee to go for training, and we will be dealing with adopting and altering the method for the shared fishery business tax program that certifies the allocation which would fairly represent the distribution of significant effects business activity in the Cook Inlet. We also have a resolution before us discussing rents and leases from the Airport Reserve lands between the City of Kenai and Legacy Electric.”

There is an executive session scheduled which is also routine, having to do with the negotiation of the renewal of the city clerk’s employment agreement.

That meeting will begin at 7 pm tonight at the Kenai Council Chambers.
