Members of the Kenai, Nikiski, and Seward Fire Departments along with Central Emergency Services will travel to Anchorage tomorrow to participate in the annual 9/11 memorial.

Fire Chief Jeff Tucker detailed the event which begins at 6 pm.

Tucker: “Tomorrow is the Alaskan Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Anchorage, firefighters from all across the state of Alaska will be going to Anchorage tomorrow to participate in the ceremony, we do this annually on September 11 to commemorate those firefighters who have fallen not only in Alaska but nationally, we’ll be going up there and there will be a parade before the ceremonies, the fire departments trucks there and people will be walking after that we’ll be going from the parade down to the memorial and at the memorial there’s a series of services and commemorations for fallen firefighters. This year’s kind of a special year too, unfortunately we’re adding a fallen firefighter from Alaska to the memorial, last year Anchorage Fire Department Senior Captain Jeff Bayliss died in the line of duty and we’ll be adding his name to the memorial.”
