Kenai Girls and Boys Close Tournament Play At ACS Basketball Invitational

The Kenai Kardinal girls defeated Tikigaq and the Kardinal boys fell in overtime to the Eielson Ravens in the final day of competition at the 2020 ACS Denali Auto Glass/Pepsi Invitational Basketball Tournament on Saturday.

 

Kenai Girls 39 – Tikigaq 18

The Kenai girls and Tikigaq played even at 8-8 in the first quarter and lead 20-15 at the half.  The third quarter belonged to the Kenai girls as the Kardinals outscored the Harpoonerettes 10-2 for a 30-17 lead.  Kenai finished with a 9-1 run and defeated Tikigaq 39-18.  The Kenai girls finsh 1-2 in tournament play.

 

Kenai Boys 63 – Eielson 69

The Kardinal boys battled the Eielson Ravens to a draw in regulation; however, the Eiekson Ravens outscored Kenai 13-7 in overtime for a 69-63 Raven victory.

Kenai and Eielson were tied at the half 27-27 and the Kenai boys lead 41-33 entering the fourth quarter.  Eielson outscored Kenai by eight in the fourth quarter to force overtime.  The Kenai boys finish tournament play 1-2 in a field that featured many of the best teams in 3A basketball.
