The Kenai Kardinal girls, the #3 seed from the South entering the Southcentral Conference Basketball Tournament, knocked-off #1 South Homer 45-30 in the conference winner’s-bracket game on Friday at Nikiski High School.
Kenai will represent the Southcentral Conference at the upcoming 2021 ASAA 3A State Basketball Championships as Kenai will play Anchorage Christian School in the championship game on Saturday night at Nikiski. The SCC sends two automatic berths to the state tournament.
Kenai 45-Homer 30
The Kardinals lead 23-17 at the half against the Mariners and held a 36-22 advantage after three quarters. The Kardinals will face the winner of the Anchorage Christian vs Redington game, which is Friday night at 6 p.m.
Homer will play in the 3rd Place game on Saturday with the possibility of qualifying to state as an at-large selection.
