Kenai Girls Down SoHi 2-0: Boys Play To 1-1 Tie

On the pitch at Kenai Central, the Kenai girls held off SoHi 2-1 and the Kenai boys and SoHi boys played to a defensive 1-1 tie in non-conference games on Tuesday.

 

Kenai Girls 2 – SoHi Girls 0

The KCHS girls soccer team shut-out Soldotna, 2-0 holding the Stars scoreless at Ed Hollier Field.

Kenai’s Brynnen Hanson opened the scoring in the first half and Kylee Verkuilen added an insurance goal in the second half for Kenai.

 

Kenai Boys 1 – SoHi Boys 1

The Stars and Kards scored single, first half goals and then defense ruled the day in a 1-1 non-conference tie between the Stars and Kardinals.

SoHi’s Zac Buckbee opened the scoring about 15 minutes into the contest; Kenai’s Bridger Beck tied the game at 1-1 in the 21st minute.

 

Upcoming Schedule

The soccer weekend will include invitational tournaments at both KCHS and Homer High School.  The girls tournament will be held in Homer; the boys will battle at Kenai.  Girls teams scheduled to participate include: Kenai, SoHi, Homer, Kodiak, Nikiski, Houston , Redington, and Palmer.  The boys tournament includes Juneau in-place-of Houston.

Tournaments begins Friday, April 21st at 1 p.m. at both venues.
