The Kenai Kardinal girls defeated Barrow in the 2019 ASAA 3A State Basketball Tournament third-place game back in March. The rematch in 2020 goes to the Barrow Whalers 51-34 at the 2020 ACS Denali Auto Glass/Pepsi Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Kenai 34 – Barrow 51 Game Summary
The Kenai girls fell behind early then rallied for an 11-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Barrow tied the game at 11-11 just seconds into the second quarter on a pair of freethrows.
Barrow tied the game at 11-11 on a pair of freethrows in the first five seconds of the second quarter and extended to a 27-17 lead at the half.
Barrow extended to a 17-point lead at 40-23 at the end of the third quarter. The Kardinals closed the lead to nine at 42-33 with three minutes remaining; Barrow returned their starting lineup to the court scored nine, unanswered and held-back Kenai for the 51-34 victory.
The Kardinal girls face Kotzebue in the 9:00 a.m. consolation game on Friday.
