In the double-elimination format ASAA 3A State Volleyball Championships, a loss does not end all hope for a state championship–a second loss does!
The Kenai Kardinal girls hopes for a state volleyball championship remain alive, however the path got a little tougher.
Kenai fell in a five-set match to Valdez 3-2 on Friday night in the winner’s semi-final match. The win advances Valdez to the championship game and the Kenai loss moves the Kardinals into a Saturday morning double-back game against the winner of Friday’s Homer vs Monroe game. The elimination game is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center.
In the Valdez match, Valdez won the first two games 27-25, and 25-22. Kenai took games three and four 25-17 and 25-21. Valdez holds-off Kenai 15-7 in the decisive game five.
