Kenai Girls & SoHi Boys Win Cross-Town Pairings At Al Howard Tournament

The 2022 Al Howard Shootout Basketball Tournament, hosted at Soldotna High School, continued play on Friday with Kenai and SoHi paired in both girls and boys contests.

 

The Kenai girls defeated SoHi 35-25 and the SoHi boys pulled-away from the Kardinals 56-45 in second round basketball action at Soldotna High School.

 

Friday Tournament Results

Palmer Girls 75 – South Girls 28

Kenai Girls 35 – SoHi Girls 25  Kenai’s Emma Beck scored 19 points; SoHi’s Jolie Wideman and Rhys Cannava scored eight points each.

SoHi Boys 56 – Kenai Boys 45  Kenai lead 26-23 at the half.  The Stars outscored Kenai 21-4 in the third quarter.  Ethan Sewell lead the Stars with 23 points.  Kenai’s Jakob Kvasnikoff scored 17 for the Kardinals.

1:45 p.m.   SoHi Girls vs Palmer Girls  ESPN 1140AM, 96.9FM and streaming at radiokenai.com

3:30 p.m.   SoHi Boys vs Ninilchik Boys  ESPN 1140AM, 96.9FM and streaming at radiokenai.com

 

The girls bracket includes the host Soldotna Stars, Kenai Kardinals, Palmer Moose and the South Anchorage Wolverines.  The Kenai girls representing 3A basketball with SoHi, Palmer and South all from 4A basketball.

The boys bracket has been revised to include host SoHi, Kenai, Ninilchik (2 games), and Homer (1 game).  The Stars are the lone 4A program; Ninilchik represents 2A basketball having opted-up from 1A basketball.
