Kenai officials will host a town hall meeting Saturday to discuss revisions to the city’s 2003 Comprehensive Plan and take suggestions from the public.
City Planner Matt Kelley says first an overview of the process taken to update the plan will be presented.
Kelley: “We’re going to take a look at chapters one through four of the draft 2013 draft comprehensive plan and chapters one through three of the 2003 of the comprehensive plan and we’re going to discuss how those should be updated, we’re going to talk about the data sources we’d like to take a look at, where that information is going to come from. We’re also going to talk a little bit about a proposed schedule, what additional town hall meetings we’re going to have and then we’ll move into work sessions.”
He says there will be plenty of time for community members to weigh in with their suggestions.
Kelley: “Planning and Zoning Commission members and members of the City Council may be present but there’s not going to be any action take, it’s not a formal work session so it’s truly a town hall meeting in that myself and our consultant will be there to solicit input from the public on updating the comprehensive plan.”
He says while the meeting will not be streamed online, the city will record the meeting which will be available to anyone who requests a copy.
The town hall meeting will be at the Kenai Senior Center from 9 am to 12 noon on Saturday, March 26.
Suggestions can also be submitted by emailing compplan2016@kenai.city or visiting the city’s new website dedicated to the comprehensive plan at http://www.kenai.city/compplan2016.
