The 2019 ASAA Division II Track & Field Championships opened competition with selected field events, the finals in the 3200M and preliminary qualifying for Saturday’s running finals at Palmer High School on Friday.
The Kardinal girls stand in third (20 points) in the Division II girls team scoring and the Nikiski girls in fourth (13.5 points) after the first day of competition.
Kardinal senior Jaycie Calvert raced to a state championship in the 3200M run with a personal best time of 11:26.77

Chelsea Plagge placed second in the long jump with a personal best 16′ 3.5″
Andrew Carver finished third in the discus with a personal best distance of 126′ 5″
Maison Dunham raced to a fifth in the 3200M with a season best 10:06.65
Leah Fallon placed sixth in the 3200M in personal best 12:30.2
Nikiski Girls/Boys top performers
Bethany Carstens placed third in the shot put with personal best 34′ 7″
Kaitlyn Johnson placed fourth in the shot put with a season best 33′ 5″
Bethany Carstens placed fifth in the high jump at 4′ 8″
Bryan McCollum placed seventh in the long jump at 17′ 3″
Hunter Green finished seventh in the discus at 113′ 8″
