Kenai, Nikiski and SoHi Drop Contests On Conference Basketball Saturday

Conference basketball in both the Southcentral and Northern Lights conferences filled Saturday’s schedule.

 

Nikiski vs Grace: Southcentral Conference

Nikiski Girls 32 – Redington 36

The Nikiski girls move to 4-2 in the Southcentral Conference with a 36-32 loss to Redington High School.  Lillian Carstens scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs.

Nikiski Boys 55 – Redington 63

The Bulldogs fell 63-55 to the Huskies, trailing 29-24 at the half.  Drew Handley lead the Bulldogs with 19 points.

 

Kenai vs Anchorage Christian: Southcentral Conference

Kenai Girls 17 – ACS 79

The reigning state champion Lions overpowered Kenai 79-17.  Kailey Hamilton lead the Kards with seven points.

Kenai Boys 50 – ACS 66

The Kardinal boys trailed by 18 in the first half and played near even with the Lions in the second half falling 66-50 to ACS.  Braedon Pitsch and Evan Stockton each scored 14 points.

 

SoHi vs Colony: Northern Lights Conference

SoHi Girls 17 – Colony 42

The SoHi girls scored only seven field goals in a 42-17 loss to Colony.  The Knights improve to 5-1 in the NLC and SoHi falls to 3-4.

SoHi Boys 25 – Colony 50

The Colony boys controlled SoHi 50-25, opening a 29-13 lead at the half after breaking an 11-11 tie with an 18-2 run.  SoHi shot 1 of 19 from the 3-point line.  The SoHi boys drop to 3-4 in the NLC.
