Kenai Partners With PCHS To Offer Free Counseling

The City of Kenai signed an agreement with Peninsula Community Health Services to offer counseling services for residents that have been impacted by the COVID-19 health emergency, free-of-charge. Those in-need of counseling services can receive the assistance without worrying about insurance coverage, deductibles, or co-pays.

 

The Kenai City Council approved Resolution 2020-80 during their October 7 meeting, which in-part approved spending of up to $50,000 in CARES Act funds to cover the cost of counseling services through an agreement with PCHS. Residents are eligible to receive up to six sessions with a behavioral health care professional through the end of the year, regardless of any insurance coverage or their ability to pay.

 

According to a Friday release by the City, Kenai residents feeling stress or anxiety, or those in-need of talking talk about the problems and changes brought on by the virus and its impacts on everyday life, is encouraged to contact PCHS to set up an appointment. All information will be kept confidential. The agreement prohibits PCHS from sharing any information with the City.

 

There is no application to fill out. City Manager Paul Ostrander recommends just making a call to (907) 268-5973 to begin the process. Folks can also visit PCHS at 805 Frontage Road in Kenai.
