Kenai Peninsula Open Golf Championships Crown Division Champions

The 2020 Kenai Peninsula Open Golf Championships featured two days of competition at the Birch Ridge Golf Course and crowned champions in the professional (open) division, men’s and women’s (handicapped) divisions with gross and net individual titles.

 

Derek O’Neill claimed the professional, scratch score championship carding a two-day total of 142 with back-to-back scores of 71 over the 18-hole course.  Zac Cowan, of Soldotna finished second with a 36-hole total of 149 and Beau Forrest finished third with a total of 152.

 

In the Men’s handicapped bracket, Soldotna’s Nolan Rose posted an overall gross score of 144 with rounds of 73 and 71: the 71 matches the best 18-hole score of the tournament.  Kenai’s Jake Eubank finished second in the gross score with a two-day total of 149.  The top net total was posted by Soldotna’s Darrell Jelsma with a 36-hole net score of 137, shooting 82 and 83 with a 14 handicap.  Earl Matthis finished second in with a net 144 (93 and 93 w/ 21 handicap) and George Stein placed third in net score with a net 145 (84 and 81 w/ 10 handicap).

 

The Ladies handicapped bracket, Teresa Sibolboro carded a two round total of 192 with scores of 95 and 97.  Evelyn Cooper posted the best net score of 141, with rounds of 101 and 104 w/ 32 handicap.
