The State of Alaska, Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development received funds from the 2022 Community Assistance Program to pay for National Floodplain Insurance Program (NFIP) training grants for Floodplain Administrators. These funds can be spent on travel and lodging expenses for attendance of a NFIP course.
The Planning and Zoning Department received $1,085.89 in federal grant funds from 2022 Community Assistance Program, passed through the State of Alaska, Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, for training travel reimbursement.
Council member Henry Knackstedt expressed his appreciation for those involved in this ordinance;
“I do appreciate the grant, but I also wanted to say that I appreciate the planner taking the time out of her busy schedule and being new here-ish here and getting that additional training and I think that’s really valuable for the city.”
The funds will be used to reimburse travel costs related to the Planning Director’s attendance at the Managing Floodplain Development through the National Floodplain Insurance Program course.
