Kenai Post 20 Eliminated At State Legion Baseball Tournament

A strong run in the 2018 Alaska Legion Baseball state tournament for the Kenai Post 20 Twins came to an end on Monday afternoon with the Twins falling 5-2 to West Post 1 at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage.

 

The Twins advanced to the round of four with back-to-back victories following and opening round loss.  Dimond (unbeaten through three games), Juneau 2-1 and West 2-1 reached the semifinals with a pair of games scheduled for Monday.

 

West 5 – Kenai Twins 2

The Twins opened strong again West scoring a first-inning run on singles by David Michael and Paul Steffensen and an RBI ground-out by Adam Brinster.

West answered with two runs in the bottom of the first and a pair of runs in the third inning.  Trailing 4-1, the Twins scored their final run in the fifth with Trapper Thompson scoring on a passed ball.  An insurance run in the sixth for West closed the scoring.  Final Score: West 5, Kenai Twins 2

 

ALB State Tournament Update

The second, semi-final game on the schedule for Monday featured unbeaten Dimond and a one loss Juneau.

Juneau defeated Dimond 6-0.

Juneau, Dimond and West, all stand with one loss.

3:15 p.m.  Juneau vs West

6:15 p.m.  Dimond vs Winner of Juneau vs West
