The Department of Public Assistance confirmed 27 Alaskans eligible for Medicaid expansion and received over 252 new applications statewide on the first day of the program’s expansion yesterday.
Thirty-two new applications were received at the Kenai Public Assistance Office.
Department of Health and Social Services Public Information Officer Sarana Schell described the fastest way to apply for Medicaid.
Of the 252 new applications received, there were 104 on-line applications submitted on Tuesday.
Schell also suggested Alaskans try enrolling in healthcare.gov as a time-saving way of checking eligibility for expanded Medicaid.
She says Alaskans may also check their expanded Medicaid eligibility at the DHSS website.
