The City of Kenai has received three important documents from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, allowing them to move towards the next steps of the Kenai Bluffs Project.

Kenai City Manager Rick Koch said they received the cost sharing agreement.

Koch: “The most important document received is called the cost sharing agreement. For final feasibility studies the Corps process is the both the Corps and whomever the project sponsor is, in this case the City of Kenai, share equally in the cost of the final feasibility study. The cost is $627,000 and will be shared equally between the Corps and the City.”

Koch added that one impediment had been lack of funding on the Corps behalf.

Koch: “Following our trip to Washington D.C. to talk to our Congressional delegation and the Corps, I believe they reprogrammed some money from some surplus funds that they had and they are ready to move forward and it’s very exciting. It’s about a year process, it could be shorter.”
