The Kenai River Beer Festival wrapped up on Sunday and the people’s choice award for best brewery went to the local Kenai River Brewing Company for the fifth consecutive year.
Doug Hope, Kenai River Brewing Company Co-Owner…
Hope: “It’s awesome to win this again. We love going all out for our community and this is like our community event and we love it.”
Last year, Doug introduced beer floats at the festival, a similar dessert to a root beer float but only for adults because it’s made with beer. This year, they didn’t introduce a new product, but a new concept.
Hope: “We’ve been making Winter Warlock for a number of years, actually since 2006 when we opened, and I decided this year I am going to bring out a lot of our vintage warlock that we had and what better way than to make it almost like a mini scavenger hunt to get a taste of the beer? It went over really well.”
A people’s choice brew was also voted on at the festival and King Street IPA won from Anchorage.
