Kenai River Completes Sweep Of Steel With 5-2 Sunday Win

A three-goal, third period sealed the three-game series sweep for the Kenai River Brown Bears over the Chippewa Steel on Sunday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

 

Kenai River 5 – Chippewa 2

The Brown Bears broke a 2-2 tie with three, unanswered goals in the third period of a 5-2 NAHL victory for the Brown Bears.

Kenai River’s Ryan Reid opened the scoring with the first of his two goals for the game.  Chippewa answered late in the first period and scored first in the second period for a 2-1 Steel advantage.  From that point, Kenai River controlled play with a Daymin Dodge goal in the second period.  Reid opened the scoring in the third followed by goals for Brandon McNamara and Morgan Winters (empty-net).  Luke Pavicich recorded his third-straight, home ice save with 37 saves.  Final Score: Kenai River 5 – Chippewa 2.
