The regular season for high school soccer closed-out with a strong performance by the Kenai Kardinals matched head-to-head with Southern Division leaders Soldotna Stars. The top seeds for the upcoming Northern Lights Conference Soccer Championships will be released on Monday; a tiebreaker will be need between the Kenai boys and SoHi boys to determine the top seed from the South. The top three teams from the Northern Lights Conference advance to the ASAA State Soccer Championships.
Soldotna Girls 0 -Kenai Girls 0
The Kenai Kardinal girls held the powerful SoHi offense scoreless in the regular season finale’ as the Stars and Kards tie 0-0. SoHi records their sixth-straight shutout in conference play. SoHi’s Maddie Kindred and Kenai’s Allie Steinbeck record the shutouts for the Stars and Kards.
SoHi completes the regular season with a 13-0-1 record, 4-0-1 in the NLC; Kenai closes at 10-1-2 and 4-0-1 in the NLC.
Kenai Boys 2 – SoHi 0
The Kardinal boys held SoHi scoreless for a 2-0 Northern Lights Conference victory to close the regular season. Kardinal goals were scored by freshman Zach Tuttle.
The Kenai boys earn the top seed from the Southern Division with a 4-0-1 conference record; SoHi will be the #2 seed from the South with a 4-1 NLC record.
The 2015 Northern Lights Conference Soccer Championships begin play on Thursday, May 21 at Palmer High School. Brackets will be available on Tuesday.
