Kenai & SoHi Baseball Defeat Colony, Fall To Wasilla

Baseball in the Valley produced victories for Kenai and SoHi over Colony and losses to Wasilla.

SoHi 14 – Colony 7

The Soldotna Stars opened a Valley swing with a 12-7 victory over Colony; SoHi built a 9-0 lead after three innings and got a solid start from Mathew Dougherty, five innings allowing only one hit and two runs.

The Stars improved to 5-0 in Southcentral Conference play with Friday’s win.

Kenai 6 – Wasilla 16 (6 innings)

The Kardinals opened the weekend with a loss to the Warriors 16-6 in six innings.

Kenai 12 – Colony 3

The Kardinals bounced-back from a Friday loss with 12-3 late dismantling of Colony.  Kenai recorded 14 hits including a nine run, ninth inning.  Kardinal starter Gavin Petterson pitched a complete game allowing only one earned run.

SoHi 3 – Wasilla 7

Wasilla improved to 9-0 on the season with a 7-3 victory over SoHi on Saturday in high school baseball.  SoHi scored all three runs in the first six innings; while allowing seven runs to Wasilla through six innings.  Both teams relief pitchers shutout the opponents through the final three innings.
