Kenai & SoHi Finish Top Three In Silver Bracket At Volleyball Tournament

The 2021 Dimond/Service Volleyball Tournament featured two days of competition with pool play on Friday and Saturday and bracketed tournaments on Saturday.  Twenty Alaska schools participated in the volleyball tournament at the varsity level.

 

The Kenai Kardinals and Soldotna Stars, following pool play, were seeded into the Silver Bracket with Kenai completing bracket play 3-0 for first place; SoHi finished 1-1 for a tie for third.

 

The Kardinals defeat Kodiak 25-21 and 25-20 in the first round; SoHi defeated Eagle river 27-25 and 25-23.  That set up a semi-final pairing of Kenai and SoHi, which the Kardinals won 25-21 and 25-17.  Kenai advanced to defeat Palmer 26-24, 21-25 and 15-11 for the Silver Bracket championship.

Kenai completed pool play with a 3-5 record; SoHi completed pool play with a 3-5 record.

 

The Nikiski girls finished pool play at 0-10 and were place in the Bronze Bracket.  The Bulldogs opened bracket play with a 27-25, 25-22 victory over Homer before falling 13-25, 20-25 to Grace Christian.  Grace advanced to win the Bronze Bracket.

 

Dimond battled Chugiak in the Gold Bracket finale’, after Dimond completed pool play 8-0 and knocked-off Service, Chugiak and South to advance to the title game.

Division II Volleyball

The Susitna Valley volleyball team swept Cook Inlet Academy 25-20, 25-12 and 25-11 on Friday at Cook Inlet Academy.
