The 2019 Anchorage Kia Dimond Lady Lynx Prep Shootout basketball tournament features four days of high school basketball with many of Alaska’s top girls basketball teams; included in the field are the Kenai Kardinal girls and Soldotna Star girls.
The Lady Lynx Shootout opens on Wednesday, February 6 with eight games at Dimond High School. The teams have been seeded and paired for first-round contests.
Wednesday’s first round winner’s will be placed in the Gold Bracket and first round loser’s will be placed in the Maroon Bracket. Both brackets will continue with three days of competition culminating on championship Saturday.
The Soldotna Star girls (14-0) open against Southeast power Ketchikan (7-7) in Wednesday’s 6:15 p.m. game.
The Kenai Kardinal girls (10-4) draw reigning state champion and tournament host Dimond High School (6-1) in Wednesday’s final game of the day, scheduled for 8 p.m.
According to ASAA365, the website charged with collecting game data, the Soldotna girls (14-0), ACS girls (12-0) and the West girls (5-0) are the three undefeated teams in the tournament. Powerhouse Dimond (6-1), Wasilla (7-3), Bartlett (11-3), Juneau (10-4) and West Valley (10-1) are in the field.
