The Kenai Kardinals battled Eagle River in non-divisional basketball games with the Kenai girls defeating the Wolves and the Kenai boys falling to Eagle River.
Kenai Girls 23 – Eagle River 17
Offenses struggled on Friday for both teams as Kenai lead 7-4 at the half, on their way to a 23-17 non-divisional victory over Eagle River. Kenai lead 13-9 after three quarters and scored 10 points in the final quarter. Logan Satathite lead the Kards with eight points.
Kenai Boys 35 -Eagle River 78
Eagle River dominated the Kardinals throughout Friday’s contest opening up a 27-9 lead after one quarter; the Wolves handling Kenai in a 78-35 non-conference pairing. Caleb Litke lead Kenai with 14 points.
The Soldotna Stars faced Anchorage Christian School on Friday to open a two-day road swing against the Lions. ACS is now a member of the Northern Lights Conference with SoHi and the Lions recorded a pair of conference victories.
ACS Girls 78 – SoHi Girls 10
The Lions, winners of four-straight 3A states basketball champions and an undefeated, interrupted year in 2020, moved to 4A basketball for 2021-22 and continues their dominance.
The Lions lead 57-7 at the half and, with a running clock in the second half, defeated SoHi 78-10.
ACS Boys 67 – SoHi Boys 57
SoHi battled the Lions evenly through the first half, trailing 30-26; however, ACS built a 47-34 lead in the third quarter enroute to a 67-57, ten point victory. Maleda Dembrock lead the Stars with 14 points.
