Kenai Surgery Center Continues to Pursue Agreement

The Surgery Center of Kenai is continuing to pursue a transfer agreement with the Central Peninsula Hospital, even looking at federal help.

 

The center’s Executive Director Joseph Hurley has spoken multiple times with U.S. Senator Elect Dan Sullivan about the pursuit of the agreement.

Hurley: “He’s shown a lot of interest in helping support the Surgery Center of Kenai and we’ve had a lot of opposition from the local hospital but the support from the public has been huge. People in Soldotna, Homer, even from Seward expressed some real interest in our surgery center and we’re hoping from support from him (Sullivan) again as well.”

 

Hurley was present at last week’s Sullivan meet and greet.

Hurley: “He’s a supporter of us over at the surgery center of Kenai and the specialty clinic of Kenai with the medi-center and we went and supported him at Dr. Humfreys when he hosted a dinner. Unlike past senators he really has a voice of the people and he tries to get out there and make himself known and hear your issues and that’s a really positive thing. We’re here today just talking to him and thanking him, he had a pretty uphill battle and he won.”

 

The dispute over the transfer agreement gained attention in August when the Surgery Center presented to the CPH Inc. Board members and were still denied the agreement.
