The City of Kenai is working to bring an existing well online before the summer months when water usage peaks.
Public Works Director Sean Wedemeyer…
Wedemeyer: “It’s bringing an observation well that was drilled in 2010 online to provide another 200 gallons per minute to our system during summer months.”
That well is on the same property as the multi million dollar water treatment facility which was built on Shotgun Road a couple of years ago.
Wedemeyer detailed the work left to accomplish since the well was already drilled.
Wedemeyer: “It requires dropping a pump down this well, building an HDP line and connecting it to the existing system to get it into the water treatment facility, and then it requires programming to make this well work with the other two wells that feed this facility.”
Bringing the well online was awarded at the April 15 City Council meeting and is slated to be finished around May 15.
